What do I do if I am a first-time user?

Simply click Enter Discussion Board at the bottom of this page or the previous page. When prompted with the logon screen, click the "New User" button. You will be required to enter a logon name, your name, an e-mail address, and a password. Remember your password and keep it a secret. If you logon as guest you will not be able to post messages, just read messages.

Posting a message

To post a new message, select a conference and hit the "Post" button at the top left of the discussion board interface, and at the top of each message. When filling in the topic for your message, choose words that will make it easy for others to quickly know what your message is about. If you are responding to another message, choose that particular message and then choose reply or reply with quote, (this adds the old message at the top of your reply). These choices are at the top of each message next to post. The search function for the conferences will help people searching the conferences to find relevant information.

What are the Joslin Conferences?

The Joslin conferences are forums where people with diabetes can find information and share thoughts and experiences on specific diabetes issues. It is our hope that these conferences will provide you an opportunity to meet and exchange views with other people with diabetes and healthcare professionals.

What is my role in the conference?

Ask a question, respond to another person's question, provide a comment, reference or resource. By doing so you contribute to the development of this special communication and information network. We hope you will share this resource with friends, other families, and your healthcare team.

What is the role of the moderators?

The moderator's primary responsibility is to maintain the integrity of the discussion group. The Joslin moderator will review postings, though time does not permit moderators to review postings every day or to respond to every question. The moderator reserves the right to post, not post, edit or delete any message. The moderator may also promote discussion by posing questions or posting new messages. Each moderator is assisted by a team of Joslin specialists, including diabetes doctors, nurse educators, dietitians, psychologists and exercise physiologists, all of whom can offer important perspectives about diabetes care.

The information provided by the moderators or other Joslin staff is for the purpose of providing information only and is not intended as medical or mental health advice or diagnosis. You should not rely on the moderators or other Joslin staff to provide help in emergency situations.

Confidentiality

Individually identifiable patient information should never be included in conference postings in order to protect privacy and confidentiality.

Whom do I contact with additional questions?

If you would like a Joslin representative to contact you regarding a specific issue, please go to our contact form. To make a suggestion or comment about the discussion area, please fill out our online form with your feedback and suggestions.
