In the mid 1980s, as the diabetes epidemic began to sweep the globe, Joslin recognized the need for a new approach to draw on its unique and unparalleled resources to rapidly put Joslin knowledge at the fingertips of clinicians and patients. In 1987, Joslin launched the Strategic Initiatives Division to deliver Joslin health solutions to patients and the clinicians who care for them, without regard for geography.
