What is the mission of Joslin Diabetes Center?
”To improve the lives of people with diabetes and its complications through innovative care, education and research that will lead to prevention and cure of the disease.”

Is my donation tax deductible?
Joslin is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, so donations are deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Gifts of cash, stock and securities are fully deductible, and a portion of certain other gift arrangements may be claimed. Items and services, such as tickets to Joslin events or the price paid over and above the value of auction items, are partially deductible.  

Can I make a gift online?
Absolutely. It’s easy to make an online gift through our secure, online server.

How will my gift be used?
Gifts to Joslin are used in accordance with the donor’s wishes. General contributions support an array of initiatives including care and outreach, basic and clinical research and patient and provider education.

What is the High Hopes Fund?
Through an extensive fundraising program, the High Hopes Fund generates critical resources to support Joslin’s multi-dimensional efforts in the battle against diabetes. By expanding the global medical community’s knowledge about diabetes prevention and treatment options, this fund ultimately benefits the millions of children and adults who live with diabetes and millions more at risk for the disease.

Where will my donation have the greatest impact?
General gifts to the High Hopes Fund provide immediate results because they support Joslin’s most innovative new ideas and emerging opportunities. 

Can I make a gift in memory or in honor of someone?
Absolutely. Joslin’s Tribute Program will notify the person or family you choose to honor of your thoughtful tribute. Tributes are also suitable for special occasions such as weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, birthdays and more.

What is the Elliott P. Joslin Society?
The Joslin Society recognizes philanthropic leaders in the Joslin community and consists of friends of the Center who contribute $1,000 or more in a given calendar year. Members are the critical link between Joslin’s experts and the progress required to deliver life-changing results.

How will my gift be leveraged?
When you make a gift to Joslin, you are making a great philanthropic contribution. Not only does your gift alone allow Joslin to continue its lifesaving work, but it is also pooled with other private, foundation and government funding in order to make the greatest impact on Joslin’s work. Private gifts also lay the foundation for future support by providing seed funding to generate pilot data needed to launch new initiatives. 

What is the Legacy Society?
This special circle of benefactors honors those who have invested in Joslin’s future through a bequest or life income gift arrangement. Legacy Society members are recognized in our annual report and on a plaque in Joslin’s entryway. They also receive invitations to special events and occasional updates on Joslin activities.  

How do matching gifts work?
Be sure to check with your human resources department to find out if your employer offers a matching gift program. Many employers extend this generous benefit, and usually all that is required is for you to complete a form and provide some documentation of your gift—then your employer will match your donation to Joslin!

How can I help?
There are plenty of ways to get involved. There are several types of gifts that may interest you. You might also consider attending Joslin events planned in cities around the country. Getting involved could also mean staying in touch with Joslin and up to date on the latest diabetes news.
