Joslin Works with Leading Eye Care Teams in the Longwood Medical Area

Joslin/Massachusetts Eye and Ear Alliance

Massachusetts Eye and Ear and Joslin Diabetes Center has formed a clinical and research alliance, aimed toward providing coordinated high quality care to eye patients throughout greater Boston, especially those with or at-risk for diabetes-related eye disease.

The collaboration brings together Boston’s two most advanced clinical eye departments, Joslin’s Beetham Eye Institute (BEI) and Mass. Eye and Ear’s Department of Ophthalmology. The alliance provides expanded Longwood Ophthalmology Service for present and future patients. The combined center is co-located at the Joslin Diabetes Center at 1 Joslin Place and Mass. Eye and Ear’s new ambulatory care center at 800 Huntington Avenue.

Joslin/BIDMC Collaborative Eye Care Program

Joslin Diabetes Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) collaborate on diabetes clinical care.

The Joslin/BIDMC Collaborative Eye Care Program offers premier, diabetes-specific ophthalmic care focused on preventing and treating eye disease to preserve vision.

BIDMC patients with diabetic eye diseases affecting the eye’s retina can be seen at the Beetham Eye Institute. Glaucoma, cataract, age-related macular degeneration and other non-diabetic eye diseases are managed by BIDMC ophthalmologists with expertise in these eye conditions.
