Preparing for Your First Appointment

If you are a new patient at the Beetham Eye Institute, please arrive a half-hour early to register and present your insurance card. Bring copies of any previous eye exams or arrange to have them sent to us.

Also bring:

  • Eyeglasses, contact lenses or any other visual aids you use.

  • A list of medications to which you are allergic.

  • A list of prescription medications you  take, as well as any over-the-counter medications or supplements.

If your examination will involve having your eyes dilated, you should not plan to drive directly afterwards. Bring sunglasses, as you can expect to be sensitive to light for several hours.

Eye appointments involve very thorough and delicate examinations. Your exam may up last up to 2½ hours, on average.
