Why WAIT

The next Why WAIT program will start January 2015.  Please contact Joan Beaton at joan.beaton@joslin.harvard.edu or 617.309.3491 for additional information. This program will be held on 12 consecutive Wednesdays from 4:30p to 7:15p in our Boston location.

Weight Achievement and Intensive Treatment (Why WAIT) is a 12-week multidisciplinary program for weight control and intensive diabetes management that is offered to those with type 1 or type 2 diabetes..
(Please note: The Why WAIT Program is conducted only in our Boston location). The next program starts January 2015.The program includes:

  • adjustments to diabetes medications to enhance weight reduction
  • a structured diet with regular food and meal replacements, following Joslin Nutrition Guidelines 
  • weekly learning sessions
  • individualized exercise  plan that gradually increases from 20 to 30 minutes/day (3 to 4 times/week) to 45 to 60 minutes/day (6 times/week)
