Jorge Plutzky, M.D.

Dr. Plutzky directs the Lipid/Prevention Clinic at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, which provides an opportunity for trainees in need of either patient samples or exposure to clinical issues in this area. This clinical effort also involves clinical trials. Dr. Plutzky also directs a basic science laboratory focused on transcriptional mechanisms involved in linking metabolism to inflammation and atherosclerosis. A major area of interest has been on endogenous pathways that modulate activity of the retinoid X receptor (RXR) - peroxisome proliferator activated receptor (PPAR) transcriptional complex.
