Joslin Names Francesca Pelletier as Youth Ambassador

Joslin has named Francesca Pelletier, a senior at Swampscott High School, as the 2011 Joslin Youth Ambassador.

The daughter of a nurse, Pelletier is no stranger to the challenges diabetes presents and looks forward to helping Joslin raise critical awareness for the ever-growing epidemic. “It feels good knowing you are in a position where you can make a difference,” Pelletier says. 

She will join Joslin for the first time in her new role at the upcoming CityFeast event, which brings together six of the North End’s finest restaurants to help raise funding for Joslin’s High Hopes Fund.

Pelletier’s role at Joslin continues an active history of community service the youth has cultivated throughout her high school years, in addition to playing hockey and tennis at Swampscott High School. A volunteer for Best Buddies, Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) and Horizons for Homeless Children, Pelletier has a passion for people and relishes the opportunity to touch lives and be a friendly face for those who need it.  She hopes to pursue a career in communications and to remain in the New England area.
