Kenton Holden Is Joslin's Youth Ambassador
Tuesday, December 15, 2009
Kenton Holden, 14, of Weston, Massachusetts will serve as Joslin Diabetes Center’s first Youth Ambassador, starting in January 2010.
She will work with the Joslin Development and Communications offices to promote Joslin’s work with children and young adults with diabetes, including both clinical care services and Joslin’s extensive pediatric diabetes research.
Kenton, who is a Freshman at Weston High School, describes herself as “athletic and outgoing.” She plays field hockey, tennis and lacrosse and is a lifeguard in training in the summer.
In addition to her academic schedule, which includes geometry, physics, world history and English, Kenton finds time for extracurricular activities such as art and video production — and for hanging out with her friends.
Being the first Joslin Youth Ambassador is “pretty cool,” according to Kenton. Both her brother and step-father have Type 1 diabetes, so Kenton is looking forward to working to help Joslin pursue a cure for the disease.
