The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) will present C. Ronald Kahn, M.D., with its Frontiers in Science Award at its annual meeting in Boston on April 22. The Frontiers in Science Award goes to an individual who has demonstrated exemplary contributions to their individual profession or area of expertise. Dr. Kahn was selected to receive this award by AACE based on his many seminal discoveries and outstanding commitment to the field of diabetes research.
“I have been working in this field of research for over 35 years, but the problems presented by the current epidemic of diabetes and obesity demonstrate the need to learn even more,” said Dr. Kahn. “I thank AACE for this recognition and also for all it has done to draw more attention to the needs for improving medical care for individuals with these disorders.”
Dr. Kahn is Vice Chair of Joslin Diabetes Center and the Mary K. Iacocca Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He joined Joslin in 1981 as Research Director. From 2001 to 2007, Dr. Kahn served as Joslin’s President.
AACE’s more than 6,000 members are physicians who specialize in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.
