Since its evolution from Dr. Elliott P. Joslin's private practice in 1898, Joslin Diabetes Center's staff members have been teachers, lecturers, and trainers of diabetes practitioners in an effort to improve the care of patients with diabetes.
Today, Joslin Diabetes Center continues this mission to educate providers through its Professional Education programs. Joslin has achieved national visibility and a reputation for excellence in producing programs that maximize educational impact.
Continuing Medical Education (CME)
Affiliated with Harvard Medical School, Joslin's CME programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education. In 2006, Joslin Diabetes Center was awarded a six-year re-accreditation and the status of “Accreditation with Commendation” by the ACCME, the highest rating achievable by a provider of CME. This level of certification places Joslin in a peer group with the best CME providers in the U.S.
Continuing Education (CE)
Joslin develops educational programs for nurses, dietitians, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals. The acquisition of knowledge and skills needed to utilize diabetes treatments require repeated educational exposure to ensure that the necessary treatment changes are incorporated into daily practice.
