Packed house in a Research Seminar

The Joslin Enrichment Program facilitates the exchange of research information and discussions among investigators, fellows, and students within the Joslin Diabetes Center, as well as between Joslin investigators and outside researchers with similar interests.

Program Components

The Longwood Area Diabetes/Metabolism Research Seminar Series (Thursday noon seminars) is a program of weekly research seminars featuring invited external scientists. In addition, five named lectureships (Michael Brownlee Visiting Professor Lectureship in Diabetes Research, Ray A. and Robert L. Kroc Lectureship on Diabetes, Priscilla White Lectureship on Metabolism, Alexander Marble Lectureship on Diabetes and the C. Ronald Kahn Distinguished Lectureship) highlight the work of exceptional scientists.

Joslin’s Tuesday noon research seminars feature work-in-progress by Joslin’s senior postdoctoral research fellows and investigators. During the summer, seminars are given by Core Directors as well as outside experts to raise awareness of available services and to introduce new technologies.

Clinical Diabetes and Metabolism Seminars are held Mondays at noon and feature external and internal speakers and case presentations arising from the clinical practice experience in the Longwood Medical Area.

In partnership with the Toronto Banting and Best Diabetes Center and the University of Copenhagen, the Joslin sponsors a major scientific symposium that brings together members of the Research Base and leading investigators in diabetes and metabolism from around the world. Joslin last hosted the 2019 program on “Bioenergetics and its Dysregulation in Diabetes” and will again host this symposium in 2022.
