Keep Moving...Keep Healthy with Diabetes -- DVD
This is a first-of-its-kind exercise DVD for people with diabetes or pre-diabetes or others looking for a low-impact video to help them get the physical activity they need. It's a fun and easy exercise program designed to keep you moving -- and keep you healthy!
Keep Moving!…Keep Healthy with Diabetes shows two simultaneous exercises, one seated and one standing, performing similar aerobic activities. The seated exercises are appropriate for individuals with limited exercise capacity who are beginning an exercise program, as well as people with physical limitations (hip or knee problems, balance difficulties, etc.) who would find standing exercises too difficult. The standing version involves a higher level of aerobic exercise, but would still be considered "low impact" for many people.
The aerobic portion of the DVD consists of four segments, followed by a stretching and resistance segment using exercise bands. Each workout segment is set to music and led by Joslin exercise physiologist Catherine Jarema. Joslin’s Richard Jackson, MD, also provides useful information regarding the correct methods for performing exercises. The entire video is about 45 minutes long.
Keep Moving!…Keep Healthy with Diabetes was developed and produced at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, with the guidance and participation of Joslin’s Exercise Physiology Department.
