Originally from the Boston area, Jonathan Dreyfuss received his BA from McGill University, his MS from the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, and his PhD from the Graduate Program in Bioinformatics at Boston University (BU). At BU, his thesis focused on developing metabolic network modeling algorithms. Between UNC and BU, he was a Bioinformatics Analyst at the Harvard Partners Center for Genetics and Genomics (now called Partners HealthCare Personalized Medicine) under Drs. Peter Park and the late Marco Ramoni. He joined Joslin after his PhD at BU in 2013. He and Dr. Hui Pan provide bioinformatics service to investigators at Joslin on all high-throughput data types, and are available to provide service to those outside Joslin. He is the Associate Director of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics.

At Joslin, his research focuses on developing bioinformatics methodologies and applying them in collaboration with Joslin investigators. He has extended metabolic modeling to the Seahorse Extracellular Flux Analyzer and applied this modeling to identify novel differences in brown vs. white fat. He also developed a network-based pathway analysis algorithm that integrates metabolomics and proteomics, and applied it to identify differences between patients receiving gastric bypass vs. control.
