Dr. Sylvia E. Rosas, a nephrologist and epidemiologist at Joslin Diabetes Center was named President-Elect of the National Kidney Foundation with a term to begin in October 2022.

Dr. Rosas is also the Director of Joslin's Latino Kidney Clinic, and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Rosas was also recently selected as a recipient of the prestigious Distinguished Leader Award by The American Society of Nephrology. 

This award is presented to outstanding professionals who are dedicated to improving the lives of people with kidney diseases. This work includes advancing research, treatments, and patient care, as well as mentoring trainees and junior faculty who will continue and build upon their pioneering work.

During my term as president, I would like to continue to focus on public awareness of kidney disease, particularly, diabetic kidney disease, the most important cause of kidney disease worldwide.
