Shenzhen/ Boston – (December 21, 2020) – Joslin Diabetes Center and Longgang People's Hospital of Shenzhen, China are collaborating to establish a diabetes training center in Shenzhen, China.

“As the world’s diabetes population continues growing, so too does the need for health care workers to have advanced skills in diabetes care,” said Dr. Nuha EI Sayed, medical director of Joslin’s Global Education and Care department at Joslin. “We are committed to sharing our knowledge, and training as many diabetes care specialists as possible across the globe.”

Linda Zhang, Joslin’s Associate Director of International Programs in the Global Education and Care Department, who helped establish the collaboration, said, “Joslin is a 120-year-old organization and the world leader in diabetes care, education and research. We are happy to share our expertise beyond the walls of our campus in Boston. Joslin has trained medical staff from all over the world and this relationship offers yet another platform to broaden our global impact.”

Joslin and Longgang will work together to implement an intensive training plan to standardize and improve diabetes care at Longgang People's Hospital and its 11 community-level health centers.

The collaboration commences in December 2020.
