Diabetes is growing at an epidemic rate in the United States and across the globe. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 30 million Americans have diabetes and 1.5 million people will be diagnosed with diabetes this year alone. Around the world, the numbers are even greater. So every November we pause to observe National Diabetes Awareness Month to shine a light on what is still, without good management, a deadly disease.
